ALICE® (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families in our region lack resources necessary for financial stability, and are often unaware of programs and services that might help them turn the financial tide for themselves and their families. This leaves these families in the precarious position where one financial emergency could plunge them into poverty.
To give these families and our communities a better chance for economic success, United Way of Northern New Jersey works to bring financial literacy tools and information to community members that will guide them along their path toward financial stability.
Community Partnerships
United Way fights for financial stability for all, always seeking ways to effectively extend our reach. One way we do this is by working with community partner agencies and organizations that offer a variety of services to ALICE families. We provide our partners with training and resources to assist ALICE families in accessing financial tools and supports that are available in our region.
Financial Resource Fairs
United Way periodically hosts resource fairs, connecting those in need to free financial education and community resources pertaining to education, employment, finances, health, and housing. Workshops are offered covering a range of topics including budgeting, managing credit, free tax preparation, and affordable options for health care, legal help, and banking solutions.
